Description

Terra Nova Church began in 2006 in Troy, NY as a community of historically-informed Christ-followers intent on discovering fresh ground [terra nova] together. Our goal is to contextualize the ancient truths of Christ in a culturally meaningful way through teaching, music, art and media.

Our Sunday worship happens in a 200 year old brick walled shirt factory that has been renovated into a nightclub/bar [Revolution Hall]. We rent Rev. Hall on Sundays only, but our 24/7 space is just three doors down the block at 409 River Street. There, you will find our offices, education space and art gallery. Childcare and Kids classes are offered through 5th grade at both services. Terra Youth (Grade 6-12) meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.

Our small group gatherings [we call them Tribes] are the lifeblood of the church and happen in homes throughout the capital region twice a month. Over 90% of the church belongs to a Tribe.

Additional opportunities for study and community building exist for the entire family. Theology @ The Taproom has become a popular spot for discussing classic works of theology once a month at the microbrewery next door to our offices.

The people who call terra home are heavily involved in serving locally with Joseph’s House Homeless Shelter and globally with LOVE146 [seeking to end child sex slavery]. Our Art Gallery has become a popular way for us to serve the local arts community by offering wall space for one month at a time. A local monthly art walk called Troy Night Out drives hundreds to the space during the event.

Terra Nova is actively seeking several men who would be interested in serving in our church planting residency program for 12-24 months with a potential for financial church planting support upon Acts 29 approval and admittance to the network. Those interested should contact Executive Pastor Phil Taylor.
