Elect Exiles
ACTS 29 EUROPE CONFERENCE | 7-9 MAY 2018 | Belgrade, Serbia

Peter’s first letter is written to what he calls elect exiles. That description sums up our identity and experience in the world. In Europe, we who hold to the biblical faith are exiles and experience growing hostility and all the more so as we plant churches that hold the same faith and have the same mission. We are delighted that Matt Chandler will be exhorting, teaching and encouraging us from this letter.

Our conviction is that planting and growing healthy churches means keeping the gospel at the centre of all that we do, as churches, as leaders, as disciples. And yet the drift of the human heart and the drift of every church is away from the gospel. Steve Timmis has been working out what it means to be gospel-centred for almost 40 years. We are honoured to have him to help us think through these issues for today.

Culture is undeniably hostile. And yet sin and rebellion are not able to eradicate God’s grace in culture or in Jesus. The gospel inspires us not only to engage culture but to create culture. Mike Cosper has been reflecting on the interface between culture and faith for all of his ministry. We are excited to see how he will help us to grow in our thinking and practice of culture.

This conference is for all who, as elect exiles, want to live out the gospel in every area of life - church planters, church leaders, church members. We believe that the best way to get the maximum benefit is to come with a group of people from your church and to discuss and debate how the content delivered can be practically applied to your context.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. How can I help others to attend the conference?

Q. How can I get from the airport to the hotel?
A. We recommend you take a taxi (cost approx. 15€). There is a Taxi information stand at the arrivals hall. An airport bus departs every hour on the hour between 07:00 and 22:00 taking approximately 30 minutes to reach the centre of Belgrade. The bus also stops at Fontana in Novi Beograd and at the central railway station. One way fare is 200 dinars (<2 EUR) and can be paid directly to the bus driver. Please note that you will still have to walk for 25 minutes from the main station to the hotel (that’s why we recommend the taxi).
