Church Planting Sunday: How Invested Are You? John Bryson By John Bryson May 9, 2013
Acts 29 - A diverse, global family of church-planting churches

The four biographies of Jesus (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) spill over into their natural conclusion, the book of the Acts of the Apostles. The twenty-eight chapters of Acts are filled with gospel-dominated people committed to evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.

Jesus, living and heralding the gospel, poured into men who built churches that built men that planted churches that built men that planted churches, and that continues to this day. To not be “in step” with the building of churches that build men that build churches is to not be “in step” with God. Evangelism, discipleship, and church planting are at the center of the bulls-eye of God’s plans for this church age in which you and I exist. It will change when Jesus comes back to make all things new, but until then, evangelism, discipleship, and church planting are the most eternally smart and most noble of investments we could possibly make.

As our Acts 29 Church Planting Sunday approaches, I want to challenge you as a church leader to ask yourself how invested you are in church planting. Some of you are white hot, truly a church planting church that sends their best men out to plant churches and who look to constantly rise above the urgent to put the best of your time and money in the important.  Some of you are lukewarm or non-players when it comes to church planting. I pray this dedicated Sunday can serve you, your leadership, and your church body as a jumper cable of sorts with a massive jolt towards all that God set in motion 2,000 years ago.  Church planting gives you an end beyond yourself and helps your body war against corporate narcissism.

We need our entire Acts 29 brotherhood and every church we influence invested deeply in church planting.  What other investment could be more important?
