G’day! My name is Scott. I am married to Ruth and we have a beautiful daughter named Isabelle Mercy. We are from Australia, but in October 2018 we will move to an island in the Philippines called Mindoro. Ruth and I feel the Lord leading us to work amongst marginalised and unreached people there; including sex-trafficked and abused women and children, marginalised indigenous tribes, those who suffer from disabilities, and impoverished families.
About the Church:
We are in the earliest stages of our church planting journey, about to move to the Philippines. Anchor Church Sydney is our ‘sending church’ and we are the first cross-cultural missionaries that Anchor Church has formally partnered with.
About the Community:
Once we have completed language and cultural studies in Luzon, we will begin our ministry in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro. Puerto Galera is a melting pot of people who suffer injustices and who are impoverished. These include sex-trafficked women and children, abandoned and abused children, homeless people, drug addicts and dealers, and marginalised indigenous tribes.
- For us, and our families, as we transition from Australia to the Philippines and for us as we endeavour to glorify the Lord as new parents.
- In our first 1.5 years we will undergo intense language and cultural studies. Pray that we would begin to understand the Filipino culture and establish a firm foundation for our future ministry and church planting endeavour.
- That the Lord would raise up indigenous leaders for us to partner with who have a heart to reach those on the margins, and that we would develop key and strategic relationships with local people.
