I was born and raised in New Zealand. My mother died when I was 6 and my only memory of my father is him hitting my mum and her lying unconscious in front of me. When I was 17 I attended a friend’s church; there the Bible was opened up and explained to me in a personal way and I was discipled by good men. My desire is to pass on to others what has been given to me, so that others may have life in Jesus and begin to grow in him too. I am thankful for this opportunity to train to be more equipped for service towards people for God’s glory!
About the Church:
Hastings Baptist Church is a community of ordinary Christian people who gather regularly, help each other grow in Christian faith, and work together to tell other people about Jesus. We plan to plant a church for the poor in our community.
About the Community:
Our church is in the city centre. We are close to state housing and we regularly have people asking for food, money and accommodation. Homeless sleep on the outskirts of the building and there is a visible gang culture in this community. However, our church is a congregation made up of mostly middle to upper class people. This is why we have a desire and a need for a church plant amongst the poor in our community.
- For me to prioritise my time well between studying, family, work, church responsibilities, time with God and the day to day things of life.
- That God may raise up more Christians with a love and passion to take the gospel to the hard places of our community.
- For God to be at work in the hearts of people in Hastings, drawing them to himself and opening their minds to hear and to respond to the Good News of Jesus.
