Job Description

Reports to: VP of Operations

Workload: Full-time or Part-time

Location: Remote

Effective Date: ASAP

General Description

To advance the work of church planting by coordinating, overseeing, and implementing all Acts 29 Financial Systems in cooperation with Acts 29’s accounting firm and under the leadership of the VP of Operations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Acts 29 accounting and financial systems.
  • Work with Acts 29’s accounting firm Finch to implement Acts 29 financial systems.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all financial matters for Acts 29 key leaders and employees.
  • Assist the VP of Operations in creating and maintaining Acts 29 Budgets.
  • Monitor and work with the communications team to oversee the maintenance of Acts 29 churches’ giving commitments. 
  • Oversee Acts 29 church pledges and gifts management. 
  • Provide monthly reports for those who oversee budgets.
  • Send monthly giving statements to all partner churches. 
  • Oversee all aspects of day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts receivable, donations reconciliation, grants administration (foreign and domestic) and remittance, credit card reconciliation, payroll, and contracts compliance.
  • Work with an auditing firm to complete an annual audit and maintain compliance with financial standards.
  • Oversee retirement enrollment plan for our Acts 29 churches with Beacon Pointe.  
  • Oversee development of financial reports; proper maintenance of accounting records; accurate processing of financial transactions; and administration of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); adhere to grants management standard under the advice of ECFA and internal auditor recommendations. 
  • Oversee multi-state registration filings.
  • Provide program staff and leadership team with financial components related to access to funding and allocated expense spending, reports, compliance, and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate the preparation of the audited financial statements and management letter.
    • Implement policies and procedural changes outlined in the internal auditor’s management letter and ECFA.
    • Review and renew the ECFA membership application annually.

  • Additionally, as the Finance Coordinator for Acts 29, you effectively minister the gospel as you communicate our vision of gospel centrality in your work of interacting with churches who are giving to Acts 29’s work and vision.

Education and Experience Qualifications

  • Has a bachelors degree in business or finance.
  • 3-5 years experience in business or nonprofit finance preferred. 
  • Possesses excellent written, oral, analytical, finance, and organizational skills and has direct experience in church ministry and/or nonprofit environments.

  • Willingness to self-teach and learn applications/programs used within Acts 29 (see list below)
  • Programs/Apps Used: Google Apps, Pages, Slack, Paypal, Trello, Tripit, LastPass, CRM, BambooHR, Zoom
  • Analyzing emerging situations, seeking inputs, and proposing courses of action

  Standard Requirements

  • Travel: There will be times when overnight travel is likely. 
  • All Acts 29 purchased equipment will be returned at the end of the employee relationship.
  • Subject to all the policies in the Acts 29 Handbook.
  • Subject to the Acts 29 Statement of Faith
  • Subject to the Information Management and Security Policy, including using MFA.
  • All equipment purchased by Acts 29 will be returned at the end of employment.
  • Depend on the Information Systems Coordinator (Justin Roberts) for reporting numbers or retrieving info from the database.
