4. Solus Christus
Acts 29 - A diverse, global family of church-planting churches

“Christ Alone.” Salvation is obtained through the atoning work of Christ alone, apart from individual works, and Christ is the only mediator between God and man.

  • Colossians 2:6-23
  • 1 Timothy 2:5
  • John 16:13-15
  • Hebrews 1:1-4

  1. Concerning salvation, Steve Timmis said, “Absolutely anything that takes the focus off of Christ alone and his finished work is demonic in character and deadly in its impact” (Colossians 2:8). In what ways have you or others taken the focus off of Christ concerning salvation?
  2. Thanksgiving is the necessary consequence of our understanding of belief in salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. In the video it said if we really believed that, we would abound in thanksgiving. If you are not always thankful, what prevents you from having a continually thankful attitude? What helps you refocus on the truth?
  3. In the video it said, “Devotion is a powerful existential hook that a lot of false teaching latches onto to pull us away from Christ” (Colossians 2:16-18). What are some contemporary examples of these kinds of false teachings? How can you prevent yourself from becoming trapped in these types of lies?
