David and Scarlett arrived in Costa Rica from Nicaragua, hoping to find work. Instead, they ended up homeless, living on the streets with their two daughters and another baby on the way. Their situation was desperate—until God stepped in.
A local ministry helped them off the streets and connected them with Acts 29 church Igreja Comunidad Agua Viva.
From their first visit, David and Scarlett were eager to learn and open to the gospel. Through the love of the church community, they encountered Jesus, placed their faith in him, and began a new journey of transformation. Both now attend weekly Bible studies, where they are growing in their understanding of God’s Word and learning to make Christ-centered choices.
What was once a story of brokenness and uncertainty is now one of faith, hope, and redemption. Today, David and Scarlett are experiencing the joy of a renewed life in Christ. The trajectory of their lives–and the lives of their children–has been forever changed because a local church shared the gospel with them.
This is the work of church planting.
