When Amaury left Cuba for Uruguay, he didn’t expect his journey to end in despair.

Homeless, physically ill, and gripped by depression, he reached the point of wanting to end his life. He had no hope—until God sent someone from Iglesia Bautista Adulam across his path.

A church attendee, seeing Amaury’s need, offered him a place to stay and invited him to church. One evening, Amaury attended a men’s small group—the first time he had ever stepped inside a church. At the end of the meeting, he asked for prayer.

Church planter Facundo told him, “I’ll pray for your health, but more than anything, you need the gospel.” That night, Facundo shared the gospel and prayed—and God moved.

Three weeks later, Amaury told Facundo, “I realized God saved me that first meeting when you shared the gospel. I knew I was a sinner, and I needed Christ.”

Today, Amaury devours Scripture and continues to grow in his faith. When he decided to return to Cuba, his new church family helped raise the funds to send him home.

Through the ministry of Acts 29 churches like Iglesia Bautista Adulam, the hope of Christ is reaching the desperate and transforming lives for eternity.
