“It all started with a desire to faithfully preach the Word.”

Church planter Armando Ortiz remembers the early days of Family of Faith Christian Church, which began in his home in 2018. Having witnessed the shallow cultural Christianity prevalent in Monterrey, Mexico—often marked by diluted theology—he longed to be part of something different. He recognized the city’s need for more gospel-centered churches rooted in sound doctrine.

From the beginning, Armando connected with Acts 29, and the network has walked closely with him as the church took root. “Acts 29 has been a fundamental part of this ministry,” he says. “Acts 29 brothers have been a support for my life, ministry, and family of faith in general. The network has dedicated time, sent resources, and invested in our lives and ministry.”“Acts 29 brothers have been a support for my life, ministry, and family of faith in general. Now, seven years later, lives are being transformed, and gospel leaders are being raised up. Aware of the need for more church planters and leaders, Family of Faith made leadership development a central part of their mission strategy. They launched a training program to equip men for local church ministry and future church planting.

Much like Armando years ago, many of these men in the program come from other churches in the area, eager for solid theological training. Family of Faith first walks alongside these men and their families as fellow believers, building intentional Christian community and investing in their spiritual growth. From there, participants begin a structured two-year program focused on theological education, practical ministry skills, and spiritual formation.

Currently, four men are in the program. After more than three years of training, the first church planter is preparing to launch a new congregation on the city’s south side this August! “For us, these stories are not only examples of how God provides workers for his harvest,” Armando says, “but also testimonies of families that have been restored and healed in their hearts, now ready to fulfill their mission more effectively.”

What began as a simple home gathering has become a multiplying church with a vision for the entire city. Family of Faith Christian Church is committed to seeing more leaders raised up and sent out—fueling a gospel movement across Monterrey.
