Each year, nearly 250,000 university students flood into Montreal, Canada—making it the city with the highest per-capita influx of students anywhere in the world. With eleven major universities, Montreal is not only a hub of academic activity but also a mission field ripe for gospel transformation.
Church 21 Downtown is intentionally stepping into this opportunity by planting a new church near McGill University—one of Canada’s most prestigious academic institutions, often called the Harvard of Canada. With a student body that draws from over 150 countries, McGill shapes the future leaders, thinkers, and influencers of tomorrow. For Church 21, this represents more than a campus ministry—it’s a chance to reach the nations with the gospel from one strategic location.
Acts 29 church planter Tim Hull is leading the effort to launch Church 21 McGill on or near the campus. A growing small group is already meeting regularly to learn how to share the gospel with the unchurched. They aren’t waiting for a building—they’re already on mission, building bridges with campus organizations and cultivating conversations that could lead to transformed lives.
The vision is bold: to grow this initial gathering into a core team for a church that will serve McGill’s international and spiritually curious population. Church 21 McGill will be a gospel outpost in a city where many students arrive having never encountered a Christian, let alone the good news of Jesus.
Through Acts 29, Church 21 McGill has found invaluable support. A partner church in Oklahoma recently sent a student team to assist with campus outreach. One encounter encapsulated the heart of the mission: when a team member shared, “God loves you,” the student simply replied, “I didn’t know that.”

This single moment illustrates the deep spiritual need—and tremendous potential—for gospel impact at McGill. Here, the harvest is not only plentiful but globally significant. Students reached today may carry the gospel back to countries where traditional missionaries cannot go.
Join us in praying for the bold work unfolding in Montreal. Pray for more students to be reached, more laborers to be sent, and for Church 21 McGill to become a light on campus—and a launching pad to the nations.
