Brief Description of the position:  The family pastor partners with the campus pastor in casting and carrying out Citylight’s overall vision for the next generation at Citylight West.  This position would oversee Citylight Students (CLS), Citylight Kids (CLK), and ensure care and continuity for families attending Citylight.

 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Have a vibrant relationship with Jesus. Have a knowledge of God’s Word that is thorough, fresh, and personal. Lead yourself so you can lead well in the ministry.
  • Oversee the Citylight Kids and Citylight Students teams. Equip and empower your staff to lead, shepherd, and care for the next generations faithfully.
  • Recruit, equip, and lead volunteers, parents, schools, and other influence-makers in kids and students lives.
  • Invest in kids and students to ensure spiritual growth.

 

How These Responsibilities Will Be Accomplished:

  • Help build processes and systems, culture, and a leadership pipeline for deep family discipleship ages 0-18.
  • Ensure all families feel seen, welcomed, and equipped on Sunday mornings and throughout the week.
  • Help create and foster a healthy and thriving culture in both CLS and CLK.
  • Ensure all families feel seen, welcomed, and equipped on Sunday mornings and throughout the week.
  • Ensure healthy transitions from CLK to Middle School to High School.
  • Cast vision for parents and volunteers of both ministries.
  • Help equip families and cultivate spiritual health and family discipleship.
  • Plan and lead staff meetings for your team.
  • Oversee and plan family events throughout the year.
  • Prepare and teach messages as requested on Sundays and other next generation gatherings.
  • Lead counseling sessions that involve couples, families, or children.
  • Coordinate/participate in conducting weddings, funerals, baptisms, etc.
  • Live in the community and treat it as a mission field.

Competencies Required:

  • Leadership: Identify and develop staff, interns, volunteers, and small group leaders
  • Discipleship: Have a passion to share the gospel and help students grow in their love for Jesus.
  • Teaching: Ability to preach in mid-sized and large group settings
  • Administration: Organized and proficient in planning
  • Communication: Able to build relationships and communicate effectively with students, parents, volunteers, and all levels of Citylight staff.  Fluent in verbal and written communication.
  • Self-Starter and Disciplined: Be driven and motivated to build the ministry.

Educational requirement:  Bachelor’s Degree required; Seminary Degree preferred

Experience needed:  5+ years pastoral experience
