The church planting resident will be trained and mentored to become a church planter by joining Hillside’s pastoral staff and participating in a personalized development plan. In this environment, the resident will be able to observe current ministries, learn through serving, grow through leadership opportunities, and be empowered to start new ministries. Throughout this process, the resident will be coached, assessed, and supported toward the goal of successfully launching a new church plant through Hillside church.

 

Qualifications:

A personal, vibrant, obedient, and deepening relationship with Jesus that fulfills the character qualifications of an elder in Scripture
Clear and affirmed calling to church planting ministry
Growing and dynamic prayer life and proven ability to make disciples
Passionate about the multiplying vision, core values, and ministry of Hillside Church
Exhibits a healthy marriage and family life
Ability to effectively build relationships
Demonstrated leadership aptitude: has a capacity for learning to cast clear vision, develop others to lead, accomplish tasks with limited resources, personally lead others in following Jesus, be resilient under opposition and setbacks, organize teams to accomplish goals, dare to lead people well
Growing emotional maturity: learning to understand self, displays humility, accepts constructive criticism, willingness to be accountable, wrestle with difficult issues
Engagement in a missional lifestyle with a passionate and intentional desire to reach people
Possess entrepreneurial aptitude and technologically proficient
Currently or willingness to become licensed and ordained by Converge.
Possess a bachelor’s degree

 

Responsibilities:

Develop and execute a plan for Young Adults Ministry
Serve as a Pastor at HC and execute pastoral responsibilities such as preaching, visitation, funerals, weddings, and others.
Participate in HC Elder training and observe elder meetings
Execute a missional living plan
Participate in a Small Group
Disciple and develop leaders from within HC
Assist in the oversight of the ministries of HC
Provide administrative direction and assistance
Develop church planting master plan
Be willing and flexible to join other team efforts as needed

Hillside Church planted in 1950’s seeking to reignite a church planting strategy to make more disciples of Jesus.

Church Ministry Style:

Hillside church is a multiplying church that offers a contemporary worship service, discipleship through community groups, and emphasizes reaching the lost. We connect with God and each other, grow in Christ and his gospel, and go out with the Spirit. Our focus is to see personal transformation, community formation, city renewal, kingdom movement, and prayer in all things.

 

Church Size: 470 people and growing, located in Bloomington, MN (pop. ~90K).
