Job Description

The Student Minister is entrusted with the primary responsibility of providing spiritual care, discipleship and leadership to the students of Living Word Family Church Twentyfour 7 youth church.

Key Responsibilities:

Student Ministry (80%)

  • Teach high school students the Word of God faithfully, while equipping and empowering other leaders to do the same.
  • Develop engaging relationships with middle and high school students, inside and outside of the church.
  • Build relationships with students through intentional care e.g. meeting for meals or coffee, attending school activities, being available for conversations, calling and following up with students who stop attending, hospital visits for students etc…
  • Develop local high school campus leadership teams to develop an identity on school campuses to create an inroad for students outside of the church.
  • Seek to integrate students in the weekly Sunday services by inviting and creating a welcoming environment.
  • Develop and mobilize students to lead and serve within Family Ministry and the church
  • Be a humble learner of youth culture; needs, trends, desires, struggles, etc.

Administrative (20%) 

  • Prepare messages/teachings for weekly Youth Services.
  • Manage and maintain assigned tasks in Asana.
  • Consistent posts on Twenty-four 7 social media outlets.

What a Strong Candidate Would Look Like:

  • A growing, daily relationship with God
    Desire to honor God and a calling to reach and disciple students (primarily 11-18)
  • A pastor/shepherd’s heart who can care for students within the ministry.
  • Ability to met the physical demands of the job (strength and stamina to engage with students during high-energy activities)
  • Ability to relate to current youth culture and trends
  • 2-3 years of experience in student ministry or family ministry
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferred.
  • The ability to lead and communicate well with students
  • The ability to verbally communicate biblical principles to students effectively through weekly preaching, teachings, videos, etc.
  • The ability to perform high-quality work with minimum supervision within assigned deadlines
  • The ability to accomplish assigned projects through other ministry staff; utilizing highly developed communication (written and verbal), time management & collaboration skills
  • The ability to handle confidential information gracefully, escalating when necessary.
  • The ability to troubleshoot when complications arise and offer creative and strategic solutions to your team
  • You are a student of leadership and family culture
  • You desire to work hard, are self-motivated and driven, enjoy learning and feedback
  • You have a big picture perspective, desiring the success of our entire organization while focusing on the part you play within that organization

SCHEDULE

Sunday – Thursday | HOURS: 20 hrs

(must be available for special events & meetings, etc as needed)

All positions at Living Word Family Church require regular, in person, attendance of the Sunday Worship service. Additionally, attendance at the weekly All Staff Meeting is required for all employees.
