It’s been just one month since Russia invaded Ukraine. The world is reeling from this crisis as many Ukrainians became soldiers overnight. The significant loss of life grows daily, civilian casualties continue to shock the world, and increasing reports of vulnerable women and children being trafficked as they flee continue to emerge.

Yet amid all this tragedy, the light of the gospel still shines. While we grieve over the atrocities inflicted on the Ukrainian people, our hope in Christ doesn’t waver.

I recently spoke with two dear friends and ministry co-workers in Ukraine. Joel Ragains and Nathan Millican are American pastors with deep connections to church planters in Ukraine, specifically through Kyiv Theological Seminary (KTS) where we’ve all taught courses. Joel lived in Ukraine for 13 years, and my wife and I adopted four kids from Ukraine. Our hearts are tethered to the Ukrainian people.

Listen to our conversation below.

We pray that God would end this war and that many people would come to faith in Jesus Christ through the courageous witness of men and women in Ukraine and throughout Europe. May we be good gospel partners to see churches planted across Ukraine for God’s glory, and may our merciful God enlarge our hearts for this work and for his church.
