In a place as spiritually dry as Quebec, Church 21 is living proof that the gospel still transforms lives.
Church 21 embodies the vision of a network on mission—working tirelessly to make disciples, plant churches, and bring gospel renewal to one of the most unreached regions in North America.
Quebec’s need for the gospel is staggering. Many Quebecers have abandoned faith entirely, embracing a deeply secular worldview. Protestant churches are often misunderstood or mistrusted, lumped together with fringe religious groups. Statistically, there are more Christians per capita in Egypt than in Quebec.
From its roots in downtown Montreal, Church 21 has grown into a multi-congregational family of churches, with five congregations currently gathering and more on the way. Their vision is ambitious: plant churches throughout Greater Montreal and send church-planting teams into all 21 regions of Quebec.
Church 21 is intentionally embracing Montreal’s rich multicultural landscape. Alongside its established English and French congregations, a Spanish-speaking group is now gathering monthly, with plans underway to launch a full-fledged congregation in the future. Most recently, Church 21 is preparing to plant a church positioned to reach the campus of McGill University—often called the “Harvard of Canada.” As a global hub for higher education, McGill attracts students from around the world, many of whom will go on to assume leadership roles in their home countries. This makes it a uniquely strategic mission field for reaching and equipping the next generation of global influencers with the gospel.
Despite cultural resistance, the gospel is breaking through. For example, Ana, originally from Iran, spent years searching for truth–exploring New Age practices, crystals, and even witchcraft. Her journey ultimately led her to Church 21 in Montreal, where she and her husband James embraced Christianity and were baptized!
Key to Church 21’s momentum is its partnership with Acts 29. The network has offered theological clarity, leadership tools, and invaluable community through its church planter cohorts. These gatherings have become incubators for practical wisdom and renewal, with returning leaders bringing back insights that shape Church 21’s evolving ministry.
Our world needs new, gospel-centered churches now more than ever—and Church 21 is answering that call with bold, strategic urgency. With Acts 29’s support, they’re not only planting churches—they’re cultivating a gospel movement in one of North America’s most challenging and promising mission fields.
